K-Pop Singers Sing American/English Songs: My Favorites (1)

I like to listen to good American/English songs covered by K-pop singers beause I am a fan of both.

The following five songs are American/English songs sung by Korean singers that I listened to recently

 and liked very much.

I hope you enjoy them too!

1. MMMBop by Akdong Musician

<About singer>

Akdong Musician are brother and sister duo who just debuted in Korea.

They are only 18 and 15.

They sing this song in both English and Korean, mixing parts of other songs to make it more interesting.

Lee Soo-Hyun, the girl, starts this song very slowly, but soon it gets faster and their performance looks and sounds very enjoyable.

<About the song>

MMMBop  is a song written and performed by the American pop rock band Hanson in 1997.

This debut song by Hanson reached no.1 in 27 countries including the US, the UK, Germany, Australia, and Mexico.

2. It's Raining Men by Spica

<About singer>

Spica sing this song in Korean under the Koran title "Men came down from the sky like rain"

Spica have good voices and singing abilities. What is lacking is hit songs.

I liked their cover of It's raining men.

<About the song>

It's Raining Men is a song written by Paula Jabara and Paul Shaffer in 1979, originally recorded by The Weather Girls in 1982.

This song became an international hit, selling over 6 million copies worldwide.

3. Let it go by Jjarimongtang (a.k.a. Shorties)

<About singer>

Shorties advanced to top 4 in this year's K-pop Star audition show.

These three high-schoolers (graduated last March) were my favorite contestant.

I hope they will stay as one team, sign with one of the major companies and debut soon.

If they can show their harmony with good songs,as they did in this show, their success is guaranteed.

<About the song>

No need to explain this mega hit song from the animation film "Frozen."

"Let it go" was a big hit in Korea and numerous Korean singers covered this song, but my favorite is this one.

5. Fields of Gold by Jin-Ah Kown

<About singer>

Jin-Ah Kown, only 2nd year in her high school, was one of top 3 contestants in K-pop Star Season 3.

I am used to Sting's husky voice, but this particular performance by Kwon was very soulful, feminine, and slow, yet very unique. Her voice is very soothing, almost like a lullaby.

<About the song>

Fields of Gold is a 1993 song by Sting who is an English musician. He was lead singer for the new wave rock band The Police.

This single reached No. 16 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
